Tin Roof Brewing Co. Tasting Event March 18th

Tin Roof Brewing Co. Tasting Event March 18th, 2016.

Tin Roof Brewing Company was started by two childhood friends with a passion for beer and a desire to create their own Southern, handcrafted brand.
The dream was born when Charles Caldwell ventured out West in the early 2000’s to work on a ranch in Colorado. During his stint as a ranchhand, Caldwell experienced an abundance of microbrewed beer and immediately fell in love. Upon returning, he was disappointed to find the deep South lagging behind in the craft beer world. The dream of building his own brewery was born, but it would take years before it came to fruition.
Caldwell ended up in banking in his hometown of Natchez, Mississippi. He began making trips down to Baton Rouge to visit William McGehee, who was finishing up his law degree from LSU. McGehee had also developed a palate for the finer beers during a law school Summer abroad program in Europe. One weekend trip, after indulging in a few beers, the topic of the brewery came up. The two decided that it was now or never, and what better career path change for a banker and lawyer to take, than to start brewing beer. After several years of hard work, their dream became a reality with their first batches of beer being produced for commercial consumption in November 2010.
Tom Daigrepont came on shortly after in December 2010 as Tin Roof’s brewmaster and tour guide extraordinaire. Tom’s 20+ years of homebrewing experience and ability to create outstanding beers added the final component. Since then, the Tin Roof team hasn’t looked back.

Featured Beers:

• Yonder Hefe – Our take on a German Hefeweizen, this ale pours slightly cloudy with thick white foam, and aromas of clove and a touch of banana. This beer has a nice round bready flavor with a great wheat base and a touch of sweetness. A yeasty clove flavor transitions well to a slight banana, bubble gum with little to no hop presence. Well rounded classic flavors, soft on palate, easy to drink, and very enjoyable. Enjoy most with seafood, muffaletta, spicy boudin, and crawfish.
Malts: 2 ROW, German Wheat, Crystal, Biscuit
Hops: Liberty, Crystal
ABV: 5%IBU’s: 10

• Smiling Ivan – We wanted to make a beer so smooth, that Ivan the Terrible himself would crack a smile after just one pull. We feel we’ve accomplished just that. This beer-with a rich, bready, warm biscuit background- embodies the finest English malts that give a robust flavor and great chewy sensation. Smiling Ivan is complemented by complex flavors of chocolate, toffee, coffee, raisin, plum and fig all playing on your palate. We are sure it will put a smile on your face.
Malts: Maris Otter, Optic, Caramel Malt, Chocolate Malt, Roasted Barley
Hops: Mt. Hood, Northern Brewer
ABV: 10%IBU’s: 65
